U.S. President Donald Trump was asked about Russia’s Palm Sunday missile strikes in Ukraine that killed 34 people during Palm Sunday celebrations by Christians.

Two kids were killed and more than 100 persons injured in the attacks as Christians bought willow branches to celebrate Willow Sunday. That’s the Slavic equivalent of Palm Sunday celebrating Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem before his crucifixion and resurrection. “I think it was terrible, and I was told they made a mistake.

But I think it's a horrible thing. I think the whole war is a horrible thing,” Trump said Sunday night when asked about the Palm Sunday attacks on the Ukrainian city of Sumy. Trump’s response to the Palm Sunday attacks was a departure from French and British condemnations of the Russian strikes.

“He's always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know that you can win a war. You don't start a war against somebody that's 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles,” Trump said when asked Monday about Zelenskyy seeking more missiles for the war.

Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire pushed by Trump. Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin have not and are seeking U.S.

and Western concessions. Trump has faced criticism for being too friendly toward Putin and Russia and being too critical and adversarial toward Ukraine and NATO allies. Zelenskyy criticized the Trump administration for sounding Russian narratives since regaining power during a 60 Minutes interview that aired Sunday.

Trump, in turn, criticized 60 Minutes and CBS the segment, which also touched on his desire to take over Greenland from NATO ally Denmark, calling it “illegal behavior in a social media post. “The War between Russia and Ukraine is Biden’s war, not mine,“ Trump said. “President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin.”.
