Acute scarcity of fuel and daily need items has hit Mizoram as hundreds of trucks and tankers are stranded due to the dilapidated conditions of NH-306/06 - the lifeline of the state, especially at Assam bordering Kawnpui-Khamrang sector in Kolasib district, reported. Mizoram Oil Tanker Drivers' Association and Petroleum Entrepreneurs' and Transporters' Union of Mizoram on Sunday announced that all the oil tankers transporting petrol and diesel from Assam will indefinitely cease work from Tuesday due to the poor road conditions within Mizoram. "The poor roads, especially between Kawnpui and Sairang near Aizawl, not only pose a risk to the lives of drivers, but can also lead to oil spill from tankers endangering lives of people in the vicinity," leaders of the two drivers' bodies said.
