A wildlife park is celebrating the arrival of three Scottish wildcats. Askham Bryan Wildlife and Conservation Park has welcomed Fruin and her two kittens, Mog and Morangie, all three of whom have joined from Highland Wildlife Park. The wildcats are said to be "settling in really well" in the new Natives section of the park.
Once distributed throughout the UK, the Scottish wildcat is now only found in remote pockets of the highlands, said a spokesperson for the park. Instructor keeper Ryan Colman said: "It's an honour to welcome Fruin and her two kittens, Mog and Morangie, from Highland Wildlife Park, with Fruin being one of the most successful breeding wildcats in the country, with almost all her kittens successfully being reintroduced into Scotland. "These cats will give the students an opportunity to work not only with an apex predator but with a threatened species that is in desperate need of help.
