Ellery DeBoer named Performer of the Week after helping Willmar to a pair of wins

WILLMAR — Willmar volleyball player Ellery DeBoer nabbed a Central Lakes Conference honor this week. The sophomore setter was named a CLC Performer of the Week from Sept. 9-14.

Honors were announced on Monday night. DeBoer was named a top volleyball player after compiling 71 set assists and 28 digs over two matches. She had 25 set assists and 11 digs in the Cardinals’ three-set win against Detroit Lakes on Sept.



10. She followed that with 46 set assists and 17 digs in a five-set victory against Rocori on Sept. 12.

The Willmar volleyball team has a 9-4 overall record and 6-1 mark in the CLC. The Cardinals are ranked 4th in Class AAA in the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association poll on Sunday. DeBoer and the Cardinals have a pair of conference matches next week, traveling to St.

Cloud Tech on Tuesday and hosting Fergus Falls on Thursday. Forest and Field run set for October Rugged Wellness MN is hosting the Forest and Field Trail Run on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center in Spicer.

Race time is scheduled for 9 a.m. Check-in time is set for 7:30 a.

m. The run will be a hare scramble style, giving racers 45 minutes to complete as many 1.75-mile loops as possible.

Registration is $45. There will also be an open house sauna and cold plunge from 9 a.m.

Valley Golf Course champs A trio of champions were crowned at Valley Golf Course in Willmar on Sept. 5-8. Bill Iverson claimed the Senior Men’s Club Tournament championship in a playoff over Daryl Pederson.

Iverson and Pederson both finished with a 27-hole score of 116. Both shot identical rounds of 39, 37 and 40. Thirty-four men competed in the tournament.

The Women’s Tournament champion was Markee Blahosky. She won the 16-player tournament on Sept. 7 after shooting 43s for an 18-hole score of 86.

Lisa Bjerke was second with 93. Jackie Salsbury placed third with 98. The Men’s Club Tournament champion was Dustin Carlson.

He shot rounds of 35, 33, 42, 38 and 34 to finish with a 45-hole score of 182. In second place was Troy Pederson with 189. Josh Bernhagen and Justin Wadsworth tied for third with 190s.

Sixty-one golfers competed in the Men’s Club Tournament. (at Valley Golf Course, Willmar).
