Travis Kelce is taking heat for his lackluster start to the 2024 NFL regular season in 2024. The Chiefs improved to 3-0 on the year on Sunday night, taking down the Atlanta Falcons, 22-17. But Kelce had another tough game.

The 34-year-old tight end, who has won three Super Bowls, caught four passes for 30 yards. Kelce has just eight catches for 69 yards on the season. He's getting up there in age - many tight ends start to fall off once they hit 30 and Kelce is four years past that point - but he's also got a lot going on off the field.

He's dating the world's most famous musician in Taylor Swift, he's hosting a podcast with his brother and he's set to star in an FX horror show. Is Kelce dedicated to football? David Eulitt/Getty Images One longtime sports radio host believes Kelce is not. “As an organization and as a coach, you would have to question how dedicated Kelce is to the sport right now,” Mike Francesa said on his podcast .

“He has a lot going on in his life. His life has taken a radical change. You see him in commercials, you see him in photo ops, you see him now very conscious of how he’s dressed.

.. and where the paparazzi are and everything else.

“It changed his life. And you wonder, where does football and where does football preparation enter into that.” Francesa is far from the only one suggesting that.

Many have taken to social media to suggest that Kelce could be approaching retirement. But Kelce's quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, thinks that defenses have simply been paying a lot of attention to Kelce, often double teaming him. “Yeah, it’s crazy because teams still — the respect factor they have for Travis is just unreal,” Mahomes said on Sunday night .

“It’s well-deserved, but we’re calling a lot of plays for Travis, and it’s like two or three people are going to him. So, I mean, he understands. “I think that’s the great thing about him is he wants to make an impact on the game, but he wants to win at the end of the day.

” Maybe it's just a slow start and Kelce will get rolling soon. The Chiefs are scheduled to take on the Chargers on Sunday afternoon, live on CBS. Kickoff between the two AFC West rivals is scheduled for 4:25 p.
