He may not be breaking records like Ashton Jeanty or Cam Ward, but Colorado wideout/cornerback Travis Hunter has proven that he's college football's best playmaker on both sides of the ball. Late in the fourth quarter of today's game against Utah, with the Buffaloes on the Utes' five-yard line, Colorado tried to pull off a hand-off into an end-around with Hunter receiving the ball. Once the ball was in his hands, several Utah defenders swarmed him, forcing him to back up all the way to the 20-yard line.

But somehow he managed to escape the pressure and ran the ball up, through several more defenders and into the endzone for an improbable touchdown. After scoring one of the best touchdowns of his career (and there's been no shortage of those), he struck the classic Heisman pose , as did quarterback Shedeur Sanders, signifying how much he wants the most prestigious award in college sports. On paper, Hunter's Heisman Trophy case isn't exactly the strongest. He now has around 900 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns from scrimmage along with three interceptions on defense. He ranks among the best players in all of college football at not one, but two vital positions. You have to go back decades to find players who were as vital to their team's success on both sides of the ball as Hunter has been to Colorado this season. Now if Hunter can help Colorado win the Big 12 title and claim their first conference title in decades, maybe he'll be seen as an even more viable contender.
