A popular travel-vlogging mum died in a horror crash after a truck carrying “steaming hot asphalt” flipped her car over and burried her underneath the boiling concrete. Elise Caffee, 45, better known as “3kidstravel” to her thousands of followers online, suffered severe burns and tragically died in hospital almost a week after the accident . The mum-of-three had been travelling with her husband to a wedding in Cancun, Mexico , on March 6 when their vehicle was caught in a fatal 10-car pileup on a freeway - where it was hit by the truck.
The truck flipped mum's car and trapped her underneath, as “steaming hot asphalt” was dumped on top of her, the family said on Instagram alongside a chilling image of the wreckage. The driver of their vehicle was also killed in the crash, with Caffee’s husband, Dan, suffering minor injuries. Caffee was treated in Mexico before being transported back to Salt Lake City, Utah, in critical condition for specialised treatment at a burn unit.
“We are absolutely heartbroken to share the news of Elise’s passing tonight. "She held on so long and fought so hard against an impossibly difficult set of circumstances,” her family shared on a new Instagram account called, “elisecaffeeupdates,” on Wednesday. “Absolutely everything that could have been done for her was done and we are so grateful she was able to make it back home to say goodbye to her family before leaving us.
We believe in eternal families and know we’ll see our beautiful mom, sister, wife, and daughter again. The post continued: “We’re so grateful for all the prayers and love that have buoyed us up in the last few days and that we know will continue to in the days ahead.” The family have since launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to support the driver's family, and have detailed Caffee’s accident and tragic death to their followers on Instagram.
Caffee is survived by her husband Dan and three daughters. She was best known for sharing her family’s travel adventures with her more than 45,000 followers online. The mum had encouraged her fans to seize every opportunity to travel the world , especially for those with children, believing “you can take your kids everywhere.
