Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail new stretch & features The newly inaugurated 13-kilometer stretch features two key stations: Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar. Anand Vihar integrates with Delhi Metro’s Blue and Pink lines, Indian Railways, and inter-state bus terminals (ISBTs). Commuter convenience is enhanced with facilities like escalators, lifts, and dedicated entry points.

Footbridge connectivity At New Ashok Nagar, a footbridge connects the metro and rapid rail stations, with additional footbridges planned to link nearby areas, including Chilla Village and Mayur Vihar Extension. An NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC) official confirmed, “Two more footbridges will be constructed—one connecting Chilla Village and Mayur Vihar Extension, and another near the ancient Shiv Temple—to improve accessibility for local residents.” Underground connectivity and trial runs The newly operational segment includes a 6-kilometer underground stretch beginning at Vaishali and emerging near New Ashok Nagar.

Anand Vihar is the only underground station in this section, though future expansions in Meerut will add three more underground stations. Trial runs for this stretch commenced in October, confirming operational readiness. This segment complements the existing Sahibabad-Meerut South service, which spans 42 kilometers.
