Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Hamm Director: Josh Cooley Being a Transformers fan, I was quite disappointed when I learned that the latest part has been adapted into the animated format. However, to my surprise, it turned out to be a terrific watch. The movie goes into the history of Autobots and Decepticons and narrates the story of two besties Orion Pax and D-16, who later become arch rivals.

Talking about the plot, Orion Pax ( Chris Hemsworth ) and D-16 (Brian Tyree Henry) are two cogless miner robots, who work in the lower echelon of Cybertronian society named Iacon. Their work is two mine Energons (fuel/food) along with other cogless robots to keep the robots going. Orion Pax breaks into an archive and convinces D-16 that if they find the Matrix of Leadership, it will not give rise to the second-class cogless bots like them, who can’t transform and shapeshift but also change the fate of Cybertroanian society.

Now, Orion Pax and D-16 along with Elita (Scarlett Johansson) and B-127 (Keegan-Michael Key) march to the surface of the earth to find the Matrix of Leadership as its absence has left Cybertron’s Energon rivers dried up. In their journey, through Alpha Trion, they find out that their beloved head Sentinel Prime is actually a traitor as Alpha reveals that he and other Primes fought with Energon-hungry Quintessons to protect their planet, Sentinel betrayed them and allied with Quintessons, which led to Prime’s death. Now, Orion and the company have two tasks.

One is to find the Matrix of Leadership and the second is to show Sentinel’s real face to the society. How, will they do it? Director Josh Cooley has churned out a compelling movie with an apt proportion of comical, emotional and intense moments with a dash of larger-than-life action sequences, which makes Transformers One a visual spectacle. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry bring out the chemistry of bestie-turned-rivals with their voices in the most amazing way possible.

Keegan-Michael Key brings comic relief and puts energy into the movie. Scarlett as Elita is great and adds depth to her character trait. On the whole, Transformers One is a big-screen entertainment and a must-watch for Transformers fans.

Rating: 3.5 (out of 5 stars) Transformers One is releasing on 20th September.
