Rosalyn Sandri shared a video on TikTok earlier this month discussing sophomore students at Red Oak ISD in Texas , where she was employed as an English teacher for seven months.
She was praising the 14 and 15-year-old students for bringing her a sense of 'gender euphoria ' by honoring her chosen pronouns and knowing her 'correct name.' 'When I told them I had changed my pronouns they jumped right into it,' she said. 'They call me ma'am, they call me miss.
.. it is incredibly affirming.
' The video was later shared on X and sparked outrage, led by Texas State Representative Brian Harrison, who demanded she be 'immediately terminated' from her position to shield her students from 'leftist indoctrination.' In a statement, the school revealed Sandri resigned 'effective immediately' on Monday, March 31. 'In light of recent attention, Red Oak High School English teacher Sandri has resigned, effective March 31, 2025,' the school said.
'Any other information is a personnel matter, and we are not at liberty to discuss.' Rosalyn Sandri shared a video on TikTok earlier this month discussing sophomore students at Red Oak ISD in Texas , where she was employed as an English teacher for seven months Sandri told 9News she was left with no option but to leave for the safety of her students. 'When I resigned, I felt like I was signing away my ability to teach in the state of Texas.
I don't know that another school will touch me now,' she said. 'Being a teacher is all I ever wanted to do since I was five years old.' Sandri said she'd received death threats and abuse after her video went viral on X.
'I got a notice that told me to eat a bullet,' she said, adding some of the hateful messages were sent to her work email account. After Sandri resigned, Harrison shared an update with his constituents about the status of her employment. 'Three days after I demanded this teacher in my district be fired, I am pleased to announce he is no longer a teacher at Red Oak ISD,' Harrison wrote.
'Proud to have helped deliver this victory to protect Texas students.' The video was later shared on X and sparked outrage, led by Texas State Representative Brian Harrison, who demanded she be 'immediately terminated' from her position to shield her students from 'leftist indoctrination' In the initial video which sparked such uproar, Sandri described herself as a 'Texas English teacher and transgender goddess.' 'For those of you who don't know, gender euphoria is the feeling you get when you finally feel comfortable in your gender, when something good happens and it just brings you a lot of joy and calm,' she said, adding that it had 'happened a lot today.
' 'This morning when I stopped at the gas station for my energy drink I got 'ma'am-ed.' I know a lot of women who really don't like being called ma'am but I like it a lot, it's so new to me and it's so wonderful. 'It was such a small thing to make me so happy.
' Sandri ended the video with a message to any viewer 'with trans people in their lives.' 'It is incredibly easy to show them love, so easy. All you have to do is respect them,' Sandri said.
'Something as simple as calling a trans woman ma'am could be the thing that completely changes her entire day. It does for me. It never, ever, ever, ever gets old.
' Sandri shared an update on TikTok after her resignation, clarifying that she never 'asked' her students to call her by her preferred pronoun, but she did explain to them that her pronouns had changed. In a statement, the school revealed Sandri resigned 'effective immediately' on Monday, March 31 'I told them they could call me whatever they wanted. It didn't matter to me.
Just call me by my last name, just snap at me and say teacher, I told them I did not care. Sandri's videos on TikTok have been flooded with comments from former students who say they miss having her as their teacher. 'You never once forced us onto anything.
Miss you so much Sandri,' one former student said. 'Literally one of the most chillest teachers I've ever had. There was genuinely no reason for you to leave.
People can be so cruel,' another student said. Sandri replied to that student, telling them to never 'let cruel people stop you from shining.'
