Tragic End of Ceasefire

The fragile ceasefire enacted on 19 January this year has now collapsed. The truce was shattered as Israeli and American forces unleashed deadly attacks that claimed over 400 lives in a single night across Gaza, Palestine, and Syria. Since hostilities erupted on 7 October 2023, Israeli forces have slaughtered nearly 50,000 innocent civilians in what can only be described as a horrifying tragedy.

This raises urgent and undeniable questions: Is it not a grave injustice to massacre civilians in Gaza? Is there any universal law that justifies such genocide? Can relentless airstrikes on defenceless people in the dead of night be called anything but terrorism? And do war criminals like Netanyahu and Donald Trump enjoy absolute impunity to kill at will? Any honest and conscientious person would answer these questions with unwavering clarity. During his election campaign, former US President Donald Trump vowed to promote global peace. Yet, as expected of any politician, he has conveniently abandoned his promises.

While he remains committed to ending the Russo-Ukrainian war, he simultaneously conspires with Netanyahu to perpetuate the bloodshed in Gaza. On 17 March, Trump officially approved the resumption of genocide in Gaza, proving his disinterest in fostering peace. A few weeks ago, Trump announced plans to place the Gaza Strip under American surveillance, forcibly displacing its native population and resettling them in Egypt and Jordan.

However, after facing global backlash, he has now chosen to escalate the war instead. Palestinians have the same fundamental rights as any other people, whether in America or elsewhere. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948, upholds the principles of equality, the right to life, and security.

Yet, Netanyahu and his staunch ally, Donald Trump, have brazenly disregarded these principles entirely. To end this catastrophe, a unified and resolute response is required—especially from Muslim nations. The Arab world remains in a state of deep slumber, their indifference incomprehensible.

However, the world must rise—not just for Muslims, but for the survival of humanity itself. The time has come to hold Western war criminals accountable. Will they ever face justice? Sadly, hope remains scarce.
