Bhubaneswar: A traffic challan proved instrumental in helping Bhubaneswar Police track down and nab a thief, recovering a stolen motorcycle within 24 hours.According to sources, a youth went to Mullapadia playground in the Old Town area to play cricket at noon on April 15. Upon returning after an hour, he found his scooter, which he had parked near the playground, missing.
After a frantic search for the vehicle proved futile, he along with his family members lodged a complaint with Lingaraj Police.In a sudden twist of fate, he later received a message from the Odisha Motor Vehicles Department on his phone, which included a traffic challan of Rs 1,000 for riding without a helmet and a photo of the offender on the stolen vehicle picked by AI camera near Pahala, on the outskirts of the city.He promptly showed the message and photo to the police, which then nabbed the accused and recovered the vehicle from Athagarh.
