Trader fined RM4,300 for fighting, assaulting man with helmet

MELAKA: A trader was fined RM4,300 by the Ayer Keroh magistrate’s court today after being found guilty of fighting and assaulting a man with a helmet in a public place last month.

MELAKA: A trader was fined RM4,300 by the Ayer Keroh magistrate's court today after being found guilty of fighting and assaulting a man with a helmet in a public place last month.Magistrate N. Shivashangari sentenced Muhammad Ariff izzat Shaharudin, 27, who pleaded guilty to both charges.

He was charged and found guilty of assaulting Yusri Omar, 52, with a helmet on March 27, causing injuries under Section 324 of the Penal Code.The court imposed a fine of RM3,500 or six months' imprisonment in default of payment for the offence. Ariff and Yusri were also fined RM800 each or two months' imprisonment in default, after both pleaded guilty to fighting on the same date and at the same location.



Both defendants paid their fines.According to the case facts, the altercation between Ariff and Yusri at the junction leading to Taman Cheng Utama went viral on Facebook, prompting a police officer who saw the incident to file a report. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
