Townhomes will replace former Daniel Island stadium; more homes OK'd for Johns Island

Another day, another groundbreaking in the Charleston region. Construction has kicked off for Daniel Island 's newest residential waterfront community. The 5.

5-acre site of the build-to-rent Fenland townhome project is part of the 36-acre Nowell Creek Village . The development group is a partnership between East West Partners , a Colorado company with offices in Charleston, and Atlanta-based Holder Properties . 's global headquarters and the old MUSC Health Stadium , the longtime home pitch for the Charleston Battery . Holder purchased the site for $42 million in 2019. When completed, Fenland will have 50 three- and four-bedroom townhomes along the marsh.

Floor plans range from 2,100 to 2,400 square feet with walk-in closets in the primary bedrooms and eat-in kitchens with large islands, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances. Each unit comes with two-car attached garages and the amenities include a pool, community grill and firepit, courtyard, community dock and trails. Future plans call for waterside dining and retail.

Fenland, the 50-unit Nowell Creek Village townhomes, will be built where Blackbaud soccer stadium once stood on Daniel Island. The community will be managed by East West Hospitality. Leasing is expected to begin in early 2025, with the first renters moving in next spring.

Fenland will join the Marshside office building — the renovated ex-Blackbaud HQ — and the upcoming Atlantic Daniel Island apartments within Nowell Creek Village. The Atlantic, developed by Middle Street Partners , includes 320 rental units. It's expected to come online next spring.
