Top-performing Bolton school praised its 'exceptional standards'

One of Bolton's best schools has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for keeping up the "exceptional standards" at its last inspection.

One of Bolton's top performing schools has been praised by inspectors for keeping up the "exceptional standards" at its last inspection. The Olive School, on Waterloo Street, has long been one of the borough's best schools, coming number one in the latest performance table. Achieving an "outstanding" grade in all areas at its last full Ofsted inspection, inspectors visited the school to check if the standards are still being met.

Inspectors described it as a "unique and special place where pupils learn and grow". They said that pupils "rise to the very high ambitions that the school has for their learning" and "achieve well across the curriculum". Their report highlighted an "excellent range of opportunities" for students to develop leadership skills and the "many leadership groups that contribute meaningfully to school life".



Inspectors said that students benefit from a successful personal development programme and "as a result, pupils engage in exceptional work to support their community". They praised the school's effective leadership with "strong systems and procedures". The Olive School was rated outstanding by Osted (Image: Star Academies) Inspectors said that "leaders are considerate of staff workload and welfare" and as a result "staff are very happy at the school.

Inspectors also said: "the school adapts the delivery of the curriculum effectively for pupils with SEND so that they can access the same ambitious curriculum as their classmates.
