IOWA CITY — One of the top rushers in Class 5A committed to Iowa as a preferred walk-on on Friday night. Ankeny Centennial running back Braeden Jackson announced his decision to join the Hawkeyes in a post to X, formerly known as Twitter. "First and foremost, I just want to thank God for allowing me to be in the position I am in today and blessing me with the opportunities I have been given," Jackson wrote.
"Thank you to my family for being with me throughout this whole process and supporting me all the way. I need to give a huge thank you to my coaches for advocating for me and my future coaches for believing in me. "With that being said, I would like to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Iowa!" Jackson helped power the Jaguars to a state quarterfinal appearance with a 5A-leading 1,959 all-purpose yards during his senior season.
He ranked fourth in 5A with 1,397 rushing yards and third with 22 rushing touchdowns. He added 288 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Jackson also earned 5A first team All-State honors from the Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA).
Jackson is the 18th high school commit in the class of 2025 and third walk-on added by the Hawkeyes this cycle. Get local news delivered to your inbox!.
