KOZHIKODE: More details have emerged in the incident in which a woman was found dead in a lodge room in Eranjipalam. A native of Malappuram was found dead in a lodge room on Tuesday morning. Abdul Sanoof, the accused, said the murder was committed due to enmity over the woman filing a sexual harassment complaint against him.

Sanoop met the woman when he was working as a bus driver. The woman had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against him. The accused gave a statement to the police that the two had taken a room in the lodge to settle the matter.

During the conversation, the two got into a fight. With this, the woman shouted. The accused then strangulated the woman to death.

Abdul Sanoof, who went into hiding after committing the crime, was arrested by the police in Chennai. He will be brought to Kozhikode by tomorrow morning, said Kozhikode Town ACP P Bijuraj. The police had earlier found that the woman's death was a murder.

The post-mortem report said that she died of suffocation. The address and phone number given by Sanoof at the lodge were fake. The car used by Sanoop was found abandoned within the limits of Palakkad town police station.
