Tommy Fury insists he had a tougher time boxing KSI than Jake Paul - but it had nothing to do with his ability. The former Love Island star beat both men on points last year. His clash with Paul left a lot to be desired but his dull encounter with KSI made it look like Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward by comparison.
KSI spent the entire fight alternating between star jumping and hanging onto Fury for dear life as he fell to a unanimous decision loss. Fury was left extremely frustrated by KSI's tactics and branded it the worst fight he has ever been a part of in the aftermath. During a recent interview with Tyrone , Tyson Fury 's brother was asked who the harder opponent was out of KSI and Paul.
To which, he responded: "I think KSI was a lot more awkward. " Jake Paul is actually trying to master the sweet science of boxing, he's got good trainers around him. "He's trying to learn the art of countering, catching the shots and trying to box properly.
"Whilst KSI, still to this day I don't know what his gameplan was. "I don't understand that, I've been to every gym in the country, I've been to America, everywhere and I've never seen that. "I don't know what he is practising but I don't think that is boxing.
I think it is more like high jumping...
"That made for a horrible fight even for me, who was involved in the fight, I couldn't wait to get out of there because it was a horrible fight. "He didn't want to engage, every time I got close to him it was a holding affair. "He was just doing this [star jumping] and jumping in with the odd shot.
It was a horrible scrappy affair." Fury underwent surgery on a hand injury he had been putting off for some time after his win over KSI last October and is now set to return to the ring against former UFC star Darren Till on January 18 in Manchester. Their launch press conference earlier this week stole the headlines when John Fury sparked pandemonium by throwing water at Till following a heated exchange.
Security had to step in and break up the two camps before things really got out of hand. *If you click on a link in this story we will earn affiliate revenue.
