The popular steakhouse chain has erected signs teasing a new venue at Lowfields shops, located on Greenside, just off Lowfields Avenue. This will mark Tomahawk’s first venture on the housing estate, already boasting locations nearby on Yarm High Street, at Acklam Hall in Middlesbrough, and in Potto where the brand originated. While details regarding the new venue remain sparse at this time, the location of the new site is listed as 23A Greenside, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 0RR online.
The new signs teasing the 'Tomahawk Takeaway' - which are located on the Low Lane roundabout - do state that the venue is "now open", although the firm’s website says it is “coming soon”. The Northern Echo has contacted Tomahawk for further information on the new site. The new shopping centre restaurant features a unique "Steak On A Stone" experience , allowing diners to choose their favourite cut, which arrives sizzling on a hot stone, ready to be cooked to their own personal preference. Tomahawk previously operated a takeaway from Yarm High Street - in a separate location to its restaurant - until it was taken over by pizza firm Greedy Ted’s, now based in Guisborough. There, it sold everything from rotisserie chicken, parmesans, and shawarma kebabs to a fillet steak and other beef menu items.
This Yarm High Street shopfront will soon become home to a new chippy, with The Northern Echo revealing in October that Tomahawk was expanding further on Teesside by “bringing fish and chips back to Yarm”. The decision followed the closure of Barnacles, which has since become Yarm Pizza. Bosses have secured the vintage name from the owner of 'Yarm Fisheries', which dates back to the 1970s, and even has the potential to bring back the vinegar from Cecil Wren, who owned the vinegar factory in Yarm which last operated in the early 1970s.
