Tom Emmett has reached the end of the line at Fremantle, with the Dockers delisting the small forward despite an encouraging first half of the year. Emmett parlayed an encouraging pre-season into a solid start of the 2024 campaign in Freo’s forward half. The 22-year-old played each of the Dockers’ first 11 matches, but fell out of favour before essentially losing his spot to Sam Sturt.

Despite a three-goal cameo in the round 20 western derby in what would ultimately be his second-last game, Emmett was unable to secure a contract extension. “It is always a tough time of year confirming the final spots on our list and farewelling quality people like Tom,” Dockers football manager Joe Brierty said. “We thank Tom for his contribution on and off the field over the last two years and wish him all the very best.

” Emmett booted 11 goals from 15 games after debuting in late 2023, having been taken with pick 41 of the previous year’s draft. It comes as Fremantle face a potential squeeze for forward-half spots off the back of Shai Bolton’s arrival from Richmond. The Dockers also announced they would delist untried ruckman Max Knobel but will re-select him as a rookie at next month’s draft.

Fellow tall Odin Jones, who is also yet to play a senior game, has secured a one-year rookie extension. More to come.
