Tom Brady’s Team Wins the Inaugural All-Electric Powerboat Title

The NFL legend's team won the E1 World Championship, the world's first all-electric raceboat series, after three season wins.

wins again. The seven-time Super Bowl champion and current lead NFL analyst for Fox is adding more hardware to his trophy case after his Team Brady won the inaugural E1 World Championship. E1 is an all-electric competition that’s sanctioned by the powerboat racing governing body Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).

The circuit launched in February, holding 10 races around the globe in cities such as Jeddah, Monaco and Venice. E1 hosted teams co-owned by sports figures such as F1 racer Sergio Pérez, soccer great Didier Drogba and cricket legend Virat Kohli. In addition, actor Will Smith, singer Marc Anthony, DJ Steve Aoki and tech billionaire fielded teams.



Team Brady’s RaceBird, piloted by Wales’ Sam Coleman and Finland’s Emma Kimiläinen, held off challenges from Smith’s Westbrook Racing and Anthony’s Team Miami to capture the crown. “It feels amazing winning the first ever E1 World Championship,” Brady said in a statement. “I’m so proud of everyone on the team.

Ben [King] and Joe [Sturdy], our team principals, lead the way with solving a lot of problems, and our two pilots, Sam and Emma, played off each other, and their chemistry and the camaraderie of the entire team was on full display.” Team Brady listed five major sponsors: Gopuff, powerboat racing suppliers Bell Helmets, Racing Spirit and OMP, and Brady’s own creative studio Shadow Lion. In January, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, , entered a across Formula E auto racing, Extreme E off-road racing and E1 powerboat racing competitions.

Financial details of Electric 360, the name of the partnership, were not disclosed at the time. Formula E founder Alejandro Agag said it was the first time a single sponsor provided backing for all three formats. Before expanding the partnership, PIF had 50% of ownership in each of E1 and Extreme E, and a 5% stake in Formula E.

Brady’s better-known ownership stakes are stateside. NFL team owners his bid to become a minority owner in the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady also holds a stake in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces.
