Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa, has debunked the rumours making rounds that she is getting married during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving party on Sunday in Lagos. A viral video on social media on Sunday suggested that the media personality secretly married an entertainment guru, Farouk Umar, at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island. Reacting to the rumour, Toke debunked the claims as she clarified that they are just friends, adding that he was there for her during her trying times.
She said, “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy. “This guy is my best friend. Listen, on Toke Makinwa’s internet, they said I married Farouk.
“Farouk, my friend, ore mi.. this is my nigga and my friend, my brother, who wan marry you.
“Farouk held me down when there was nobody.” The media personality also reflected on her tumultuous marriage with her longtime partner, Maje Ayida, in 2014 and the eventual divorce in 2017 over infidelity allegations. She thanked God for giving her the strength to withstand the challenges, saying that she felt like she would die the day she ended her marriage.
