Ludhiana: The woman who kidnapped Gurfateh Singh , the 1.3 years old son of her brother-in-law, was jealous of the attention he got from family members. The accused, Kuljeet Kaur , felt that the family loved him more than her children and gave more importance to his parents.
This made her feel sidelined, said the police. Eventually, she kidnapped the toddler with the intention of abandoning him, thinking that the family would never find him again. On Thursday afternoon, Kuljeet Kaur, a resident of Ahata Mohammad Tayar of division number 3 area, kidnapped Gurfateh Singh, son of Jatinderpal Singh, elder brother of Kuljeet’s husband Kulwinder.
She took the toddler in a bag and kept the zip open so he could breathe. She abandoned the child at a park in Gurdev Nagar, where a passerby noticed him alone and informed the police. When division number 5 police circulated pictures of the toddler, they found that the boy’s missing report had been filed at division number 3 police station.
The toddler’s family was contacted and the child was handed over to them. Assistant commissioner of police - central Anil Kumar Bhanot said, “Police lodged an FIR against the accused and arrested her. During questioning, she said that the child made her insecure as the family members loved him more than her children.
The woman has a six-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. She also resented the attention the toddler’s parents received from her in-laws. The woman said that her only intention was to misplace the child so that family members would love her children more.
” Inspector Amritpal Sharma, SHO, division number 3 police station said, “Jatinderpal informed the police that when the incident took place, his son was at home with his grandmother and Kuljeet Kaur. She left the house at around 2.30pm, saying that she was going to visit a doctor.
She left on a scooter and minutes later, the boy’s grandmother realised that Gurfateh was missing. The CCTV camera installed on the verandah of the house did not capture the toddler going outside.” We also published the following articles recently Presumed to be with grandfather, toddler found dead in drain An evening of play turned tragic in Bhandup when an 18-month-old boy, Krishna Gupta, lost his life after falling into an open drain.
