Hope you’ve got a fun few days in store! Anyway, today’s NYT Connections hints and answers are coming right up. How To Play Connections Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day.



You can play on the NYT website or Games app. You’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them.

If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it’s game over.

That's eight wins on the trot. I got the yellow group first, and found that to be straightforward since I'm a newsman by trade. I was vaguely aware of MONTICELLO as something related to a U.

S. president. Jefferson, maybe? Again, I don't look up anything while playing Connections .

Given that the EAGLE, TORCH and SHIELD are common symbols of the U.S., I figured they went together in some way and my guess paid off.

I then realized there were types of salad, but the CROWN red herring caught me out at first. I then swapped that out for CHEF to get the blues. That left the greens, for which I did figure out the connection, for glory.
