Raising his ‘sarcasm’ up a notch, Harsh Goenka- the Chairman of RPG Group- recently shared a rather unique take on ‘why Indians move abroad’. Taking to his social media handle, the business tycoon shared multiple ‘drawbacks’ of moving out of India, in some of the most hilarious manners. From India’s pure love for ‘Butter Chicken’ to its obsession with the much-loved streetside snack ‘golgappas’ and from the magic of Diwali to Indian species- the billionaire seemingly did not miss to comment on a single point that makes India- India.
Goenka began by commenting on how most NRIs start loving Butter Chicken more- resulting in them eating an ‘overpriced butter chicken from a Punjabi with a fake Italian accent’, to how they mostly struggle with the prices of basic spices like ‘haldi and hing’. Coming to ‘golgappas’, he joked that most NRIs miss ‘golgappas’ while eating a ‘sad quinoa’. He further called Diwali a ‘Met Gala’ for Indians living out of India and commented on ‘things are better back home’ being a major part of many discussions.
As soon as the post was shared online, it went viral, leaving many reacting. The comment section saw a slight division, as some joined in on the joke with Goenka, while the rest shared the other ‘serious’ reasons behind the shift. “Indians move abroad to.
.. Eat overpriced butter chicken from a Punjabi with a fake Italian accent.
Buy Haldi and something that costs more than a bottle of wine. Miss golgappas while chewing on sad quinoa. Celebrate Diwali like it’s the Met Gala—minus celebs, plus aunties in Swarovski sarees.
Make only Indian friends and discuss how ‘things are better back home.’ Form a WhatsApp group called Desi Squad. And then save up in dollars.
.. just to fly back and tell their parents how amazing life is over there,” the post read.
