Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha In response to the call for the Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayer by the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, The Next Generation School (TNG) participated in this meaningful act of worship on all its campuses. The prayer was performed by students, staff and faculty at TNG Ain Khalid, TNG Al Daayen, and TNG Wakra Primary & Secondary schools. Additionally, EYFS students across the campuses were taught about the meaning and significance of the Istisqa prayer, fostering an early understanding of its importance and the values of faith and unity it represents.
This act of worship reflects the deep faith and unity within the TNG community and underscores the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and spiritual growth among its students. At TNG Ain Khalid, the prayer was led by Muhammad Umar Mohsin Wasim, a Year V student, House Captain, and member of the Student Council. At TNG Al Daayen, the prayer was led by Jawed, the school’s Islamic Studies teacher, who delivered the Khutba (sermon) and Du’a (supplication), guiding the students in this meaningful spiritual practice.
At TNG Wakra Primary and Secondary, Muaaz, Head of the Islamic & Quran Department, guided the students in understanding the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in performing the Istisqa prayer, emphasizing the importance of seeking Allah’s blessings and mercy. He also concluded with a brief sermon on the significance of Istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and set a daily target for students to practise reciting Istighfar. At the TNG Wakra Secondary, the Salat al-Istisqa was also performed.
The prayer was led by Arabic teacher Moadh Maalem who thoughtfully guided the students through the significance and purpose of the prayer. TNG’s mission is to foster an environment that encourages collaboration, independent learning, and active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. This mission extends to the spiritual development of its students, where they are guided to embrace Islamic values and practices in their daily lives.
