TNB Electron continues to expand its EV charging network in the East Coast with yet another new deployment at a Petron petrol station. After turning on a DC charging location at Petron Kg Gemuroh in Terengganu , the next upcoming location is at Petron Selising in Kelantan. As shared on Facebook, their new DC Charger at Petron Selising will be operational from Saturday, 5th October 2024 and they are offering two days (5th and 6th October) of free EV charging.

TNB Electron chargers can be activated via the Go To-U app which is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store . So far there are no pricing and power output details as the EV Charging location is still not live on the Go To-U app at the time of writing. Based on photos shared on the site, TNB Electron has deployed an Autel MaxiCharger DC with two CCS2 nozzles.

The same DC charger was deployed in Juru, Penang with a maximum output of 200kW and it is priced at RM1.50 per kWh . For the Selising site, the actual power output depends on the available power capacity in the area.

If there are limitations, the charger’s power output could be reduced similar to the Kg Gemuroh location where the 47kW DC Charger is configured for only 34kW. As announced last year, TNB Electron has planned to roll out 37 DC Chargers and 29 AC charge points in 2024 and 2025. This includes 6 DC chargers in Kelantan, 3 in Terengganu, 3 in Pahang, 3 in Kedah, 3 in Perak, 2 in Penang and 2 in Johor.

Some of their recent deployments include Aeon Taiping, Aeon Seri Manjung, Aeon Kinta City and Aeon Kota Bahru. EV Connection (JomCharge) and Gentari are also planning to add three Battery Energy Storage systems (BESS)-assisted DC chargers in the East Coast by the end of this year. It was mentioned previously that they were looking at deploying these DC chargers at Ajil and Perasing R&Rs along the LPT highway in Terengganu.
