President Bola Tinubu on Saturday acknowledged the receipt of a memo from Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, regarding his decision to proceed on an indefinite leave of absence for personal and health reasons. The President expressed his understanding and sympathy for Ngelale’s situation, offering heartfelt prayers and well-wishes for a speedy recovery. President Tinubu also praised Ngelale’s tireless efforts and dedication to national service, particularly in advancing discourse and spearheading climate action initiatives.

“The President extends his best wishes to Chief Ngelale and his family during this challenging time, hoping for a full restoration of health,” the statement read. Saturday Telegraph had earlier reported that Ngelale announced his resignation, revealing that he had submitted a memo to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila on Friday, informing him of his intention to take a break due to pressing medical concerns within his immediate family. In addition to stepping down as Special Adviser, Ngelale will also temporarily vacate his roles as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
