PHOENIX — Tim Walz, Minnesota governor and Democratic vice presidential candidate, will make two stops in Arizona on the Saturday before the election, the Harris campaign announced on Wednesday. Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, will speak at a campaign event in Flagstaff on Saturday afternoon before flying to Tucson for another campaign event there. The visit will come two days after Harris and Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump, hold dueling events in the Valley on Halloween.
Trump and Harris are neck and neck in the polls heading into the final nine days. “The last stretch is critical for both campaigns," Ulrich Jensen, an associate professor with the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University, previously told 12News. "All the polls suggest this is going to be a really close race.
" Jensen said swing states are going to play a vital role in deciding this election, and that's why both campaigns will be spending time here this week. “I think you’re going to see the campaigns doubling down on the core issues, which for both are top of mind for American people. The economy and immigration, I think, is going to be the two top issues here," Jensen said.
"They want to be visible and close to the voters in the states that are ultimately going to be decisive for who’s going to win.” Further details of Walz's Saturday visits have not yet been released.
