Article content Còig : Heavily lauded, multiply awarded Cape Breton Celtic supergroup Còig bounds into Northern Light Folk Club Saturday in a show that’s guaranteed to be high-energy and soul-enriching. While the band is sometimes larger with adjoined solo players — hence its name meaning “five” in Gaelic — for this show Rachel Davis, Darren McMullen and Zakk Cormier will deploy a saucy mix of vocals, fiddles, piano, guitars, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles and more, playing new compositions and traditional fare stretching back centuries. Local musician Brad Sime has taken it upon himself to make specialized sandwiches based on working though the filmographies of various actors, starting with Rick Moranis. His “Morisandwich” will be based on Splitting Heirs, My Blue Heaven, Hockey Night and Little Shop of Horrors.
From the first two films he’s watched — Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and as Barney Rubble in The Flinstones — Sime’s already chosen mini corn and smoked turkey drum stick meat from K&K Foodliner for the project you can follow along with and copy. “Moranis,” Sime notes, “embraces familyhood to a heart degree. “The Morisandwich should smack of family.
