Surat: The Valsad police arrested three teenagers, including two 16-year-old boys, for allegedly killing a 45-year-old man in a gruesome attempt to cripple him and force him into begging. The accused—Aadesh alias Aadu Bhosle (19) and two minors—brutally assaulted the victim, intending to disable him and exploit him for begging. However, the frail man succumbed to his injuries.
Police tracked down the suspects, all of whom are beggars, using CCTV footage from multiple locations in Vapi. The victim's body was found on the morning of March 5 on an open plot along Vapi-Silvassa Road. A postmortem confirmed he had suffered severe injuries to both his hands and legs.
With no identity documents found, efforts are underway to establish his identity. Given the brutality of the crime, police launched a detailed investigation and found CCTV footage showing the accused dragging the victim. Following this lead, officers identified the suspects, who lived on the footpath and survived by begging.
"The accused wanted to cripple the man so he could be forced into begging. When he resisted, they attacked him with blunt wooden objects," a police officer said. Investigations further revealed that Bhosle's family hails from Maharashtra and has been involved in begging.
