Kaizer Chiefs have a bloated squad but there are three superb youngsters who will feature on shopping lists around SA and even Europe. The future of Kaizer Chiefs is in good hands Rushwin Dortley Rushwin Dortley is relatively young for his position as a 22-year-old central defender. The former Cape Town Spurs man has settled right into his pressurised surroundings, becoming one of the first names on the team sheet for Chiefs and now Bafana Bafana.

Calm and cultured on the ball and impressively aggressive in the air, Dortley has what it takes to become one of the best defenders in the country. The problem with their reliance on Dortley is that he’s yet to have a slump in form, and that’s an inevitability for a player of his relative lack of experience. When it happens, who do they turn to? He’s appeared in all 12 Betway Prem clashes this term.

Mduduzi Shabalala A week before Christmas, news broke that 20-year-old attacking midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala is ready to commit his future to Kaizer Chiefs . The youngster has been a shining light for the club this term, scoring four goals and assisting once in 12 league outings in an otherwise indifferent campaign for the Glamour Boys as a whole. This news will come as a massive boost.

Shabalala has thrived in his relatively new number 10 role. After moments of inconsistency in 2023-2024, Mdu is making 2024-2025 his own with a string of impressive and authoritative performances as the team’s creative heartbeat. Wandile Duba Born in June 2004, Duba scored his first senior career goal in March 2024 as a 19-year-old.

It was an absolute screamer against Golden Arrows which also turned out to be the match-winner. Fast-forward to 2024-2025 and Duba scored a brace to help Chiefs to a much-needed 2-1 win over Stellenbosch on Wednesday night. Chiefs have prepared a new contract for the impressive youngster and it’s easy to see why.

Shabalala, Dortley and Duba represent the core of Kaizer Chiefs for many years. Let us know by clicking on the comment tab below this article or emailing [email protected] .
