Budget city breaks at this time of year can be a bargain for travellers wanting a cheap break . Budget travel expert Em revealed her travel tips had saved her a fortune while she toured the world, with 14 holidays costing her no more than £200 a trip. The essential tips for cheap travel were shared by Em, who says these three spots are ideal destinations this winter.
Taking to TikTok in a now viral post, @emsbudgettravel shared three potential stop-offs, including one which is "off the beaten track". Her left-field choice could make for a unique festive getaway, but would require a day's layover in another country. Planning these holidays around her nine to five job, Em has shared how you can make the most of low cost travel and where you could go.
She opened with her first suggestion, the underrated area of Yerevan in Armenia. She said: "My first recommendation is a little off the beaten track but it's one of my favourite cities I've visited this year and it's perfect on a budget." "You can find really cheap connecting flights here.
I'd recommend combining this city break with an overnight stop in a city like Milan or Rome. This is an amazing option if you're on a budget, the accommodation is so affordable, we got this apartment literally overlooking the city's main tourist attraction for £12 each a night and the metro cost just 20p per journey." For those who wanted a beautiful old town experience rather than the snowy countryside spots in Yerevan, Em has also recommended a trip to Poznan, Poland, where the food is "delicious and really affordable".
A spa there also offers three hour sessions for just £16, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind during the winter break. Em added: "I thought this was such an underrated Polish city. Just as good as some of the more popular city breaks like Krakow or Gdansk, but I actually found it to be a little bit cheaper.
" Em's final recommendation was a stop off in the Baltic region of Europe. Praising the area as "one of the most picturesque cities I've ever visited," Em called Tallinn in Estonia an ideal location for those wanting a bit of history on holiday. She said: "It's one of Europe's best preserved medieval cities and every street is so photogenic.
I'd say this is the perfect destination for a snowy weekend away and I've also heard it's got a lovely Christmas market..
