Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin vehemently opposed the One Nation, One Election Bill, deeming it a danger to India’s federalism, diversity and democratic principles. The controversial bill, approved by the Union Cabinet on December 12, aims to synchronize Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.

Stalin emphasized that the proposed legislation undermines India’s constitutional framework, pushing for a presidential system. He warned that the bill’s implementation would Eliminate legal recourse, Foster authoritarianism, Undermine state election significance and Erode regional rights and diversity.
