Thomas George Schmidt OBITUARY Thomas George Schmidt, 65, of Columbia Avenue, Palmerton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct 13, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Carbon Campus, Lehighton. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and community involvement. Tom was a member of the Carbon County Builder’s Association, and the Slatington Moon Lodge #440, F.

and A.M. He served on the Palmerton Area School Board for ten years, demonstrating his commitment to education and the well-being of local children.



As a successful business owner of George T. Schmidt Construction Co, Inc., for 33 years, he was respected for his work ethic and dedication to his craft.

Tom cherished spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Nadine (Suchon) Schmidt of 41 years; his son, Jereme and wife Lori Barkanic, and their children, Nikolas, Laurel, Emily, Jonathan, Jereme, Izabella, Dominic, and Giavanna; his daughter, Jessyca wife of Christopher Fredericks, and their children, Christopher, and Abigail; his son, Joshua Barkanic, and his fiancée’, Jamie, along with their children, Victoria, Gabrielle, Dominic, and Carter; and his son, Stephen and wife Brianna Schmidt, and their daughters, Layla and Addison; great-grandson on the way; brother, George D. Schmidt of Slatington; mother-in- law Mrs.

LaRae (Semmel) Fink. Tom was predeceased by his son, Thomas G. Schmidt, Jr.

, and his parents, George T. Schmidt and Katherine (Marlow) Schmidt. In his leisure time, Tom enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay, traveling, and had a passion for classic cars.

He loved target shooting with friends and, most importantly, spending precious moments with his grandchildren and his dog, Bernie. Tom’s immense generosity, warm spirit and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
