This Weekend: Near-Record Warmth and Extreme Fire Danger

Record heat is possible Sunday. Fire danger will remain high through Monday. Easter weekend is trending wetter.

Enjoy summer-like temperatures this weekend with highs surging to the low to mid 80s Saturday and to the 90s Sunday! Winds will increase out of the south at 20 mph Saturday with gusts to 35 mph. This will enhance the fire danger risk. Winds stay up overnight with above average lows near 60.

Record highs are possible Sunday with OKC testing the record of 94 degrees, set in 1972. Winds will be even stronger ahead of a cold front, out of the southwest at 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. A strong cold front will sweep across the state Sunday night/early Monday bringing powerful north winds.



This will keep the fire danger elevated for the first half of the day. Temperatures will decrease by 20 degrees, dropping highs close to average. Winds and temperatures increase throughout the week, ahead of our next storm system.
