This Upcoming Hollywood Film is Shot Using an iPhone

The principal filming for recently concluded in August, with details about the film kept under wraps until a particular paparazzi photo revealed the filming set with a rather unusual setup. A closer look at the photo reveals that the camera setup is not your usual high-end modular cinema camera.



Instead, it is a heavily modified iPhone that’s mounted in a cage with a lens attachment adapter. Several people connected to the making of confirmed this unusual setup to WIRED and added that the iPhone 15 Pro Max was used to shoot the upcoming Hollywood film. Both Danny Boyle and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle are not new to using unusual camera setups: back when they shot in 2002, they used Canon XL-1, which was a prosumer camcorder that had interchangeable lenses and used MiniDV tapes.
