It's already making a name for itself as South Wales' premiere sandwich shop, now a tiny high street takeaway that packs a giant punch is selling Japanese inspired sweet sarnies that might just be the greatest pudding idea ever. The cheesecake sandwich is being sold at Grandad Needs His Medicine, on Swansea's Oxford Street. The shop has already impressed reviewers and Michelin starred chefs since opening late last year .
Their signature dish is the hot BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich. The meat is cooked for 16 hours and is served with their homemade BBQ sauce, burnt cheddar cheese and chillies in a toasted potato bun. Their breakfast sandos are also the stuff of legend while recent creation the steak frites baguette is a feast for the eyes.

Every Thursday they stick a special sandwich and a cheesecake sandwich on the menu. This month's offering is the lemon yuzu and blueberry cheesecake sandwich, and in November, the flavour will be a dark chocolate and cherry kirsch cheesecake sandwich.
December will offer up a milk chocolate and orange flavour. Owner of the shop, Chris Hardie, said the offering is a Japanese trend which he had once tried years ago and decided to develop and sell himself. A small run of 20 were initially made, which sold out within hours, and now 100 are being made to keep up with the demand.

Mr Hardie said: "We only do one dessert at the moment, a salted maple yum yum, and I wanted to do something else that keeps with our theme of being slightly unusual, so I had been researching for ages and there was lots of different ideas. We looked at cookies, we looked at doughnuts, but there were lots of people doing that, and we wanted something completely different.
"It's actually a Japanese trend, it comes from Japan. I remembered trying one, and I think years ago it was a kiwi and grape. It wasn't the best flavour but that stuck in my mind.
I started researching and playing around with it, and that's where we are today. We flame toast with sugar, like a creme brulee some sliced brioche bread, then we make a cheesecake, wrap it and chill it so it is set, and then it is like a solid sandwich. It's a cheesecake on the move, basically - you can actually walk and eat it.
"It's gone down better than I thought. The first one we did was strawberry last month, and we did a run of 20, just to try it and see, because it is so unusual, and they all sold out before 11am. There had been pre-orders and people coming in, and the feedback that we've had is great.
I knew that they'd taste good, I wouldn't stick it on the menu if it wasn't the best it could be. It does look a bit gimmicky, but as soon as you bite it, you realise it tastes amazing. "It's gone from strength to strength.
This week we've made 80, and next week we're going to try and do 100, which is crazy in itself that we're shifting 100 cheesecakes from our little shop. It's one of those dishes that you stumble on and it's been a success. I've not seen any others in Wales.
There's a few places in London, and somewhere in Edinburgh. "It's really strange at the moment. People are coming in, ordering breakfast, and cheesecakes at 9am - 10am in the morning.
They are ordering their lunch and their breakfast. We've had some funny comments, but everyone who has tried it is coming back again and again. We had one gentleman who came two weeks ago and bought one off the cuff, then he came back last week and ordered five.
People are buying more to share with their family and friends. I can't ask for any more really." The cheesecake sandwiches cost £6 each, and customers can pop into the shop to pick one up (recommended before 12 noon), but due to demand, Mr Hardie suggests pre-ordering them via WhatsApp by messaging the number 07720219010.
