It might surprise you, but it’s true! While its common for several films with same name title to made in industry, it’s rare for all of them to be successful. However, one particular title-Barsaat-has defied the odds.

Not just once, twice but thrice, films with the name have been made and each one has been a hit. The first Barsaat film released in 1949, featuring Bollywood’s showman Raj Kapoor in the lead role. Alongside him was Nargis, whose pairing with Raj Kapoor was immensely popular.



Not only the film was a box-office success, but its songs also became widely popular. Songs like Hawa Mein Udta Jaye Mera Lal Dupatta and Jiya Bekrar Hai continue to remain classic. Raj Kapoor also director and produced the film while playing the lead actor.

The film earned Rs 1.1 crores, which is equalivent to Rs 312 crores today. In 1995, another film titled Barsaat was released, starring Bobby Deol and Twinkle Khanna in lead roles.

The film marked the debut of both star kids, and they quickly became overnight sensations. Much like the first Barsaat, the songs of this film were also huge hits, and the chemistry between Bobby and Twinkle was widely appreciated. Made on a budget of Rs 8 crore, Barsaat earned an impressive Rs 35 core at the box office.

It became the fifth highest-grossing film of the year. In 2005, another Barsaat film was released and Bobby Deol once again played the lead role. This time, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu joined him in main roles.

The film was a super hit and created a massive buzz at the box office. Made on a budget of Rs 10 crores, it earned Rs 20 crore at the box office. The sons of the film was also well-received and is still favourite among listeners.
