Often, such people start from odd jobs and reach the height of success after a while. Today, we will discuss a similar man who started his journey as a background dancer and earned only Rs 50. However, his fate changed, and there came a time when today he is known as one of the biggest directors in India.

He is the man behind many hit films generating revenue. He is not a director but a casting person. Needless to say, casting plays an essential aspect in filmmaking.

If the right person has been cast for a specific role, then the chances of the movie making an impact on the audience become more. The person in discussion is an outsider. However, he became one of Bollywood’s most prominent casting directors.

He is the one and only Mukesh Chhabra. He hails from Delhi and completed his college from Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts. He further gave his six years to Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts.

But do you know that while today he is one of the biggest casting directors, Chhabra started his journey by being a background dancer? In one of the old interviews when Mukesh and Mika Singh had a conversation, Chhabra reflected on his early days. He said, “I worked with Mika Singh as a background dancer for Rs 50. He gave me my first break, and I will always be grateful to him for that.

It is incredible to see where we both have reached today, and it is a pleasure for me to share the screen with him again.” Apart from being a background dancer, he also worked as a choreographer. In 2006, Mukesh started working as a casting director, and the first movie he did this work for was Rang De Basanti.

His real recognition came when he worked in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur. Mukesh was the one who introduced Harshaali Malhotra, fondly known as Munni, to the masses by casting her in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Over the years, he did casting for prominent movies such as Rockstar (2011), Bombay Velvet (2015), Dangal (2016), Scam 1992 (2020), Jawan (2023), and Dunki (2023).

Later in 2020, Mukesh made his directorial debut with Dil Bechara, which marked Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film. For breaking news and live news updates, like us on or follow us on and . Read more on Latest on .
