After all these years, Ben Simmons has provided NBA fans with the greatest explanation yet for why he doesn't like to shoot. His once-promising 76ers career is so far in the rearview mirror, it's hard to even remember. Now, he plays for the Clippers, and in an NBA playoff game on Tuesday night against the Nuggets, Simmons decided to go in attack mode and take a shot.
The 6-foot-10 lefty was being guarded by Nikola Jokic on the perimeter, and Simmons surged forward with a drive and a spin move. The spin to his right hand got Simmons free, and that's when he decided to flip up a right-handed hook shot. Oh no, Ben, oh no.
Ben Simmons COOKED Nikola Jokic 🤯🔥 pic.twitter.com/7rpTJxZhZW We're pretty sure there's not any wind in there, although the miss would say otherwise.
That's so, so far away from hitting the rim. The only thing almost as funny is that Russell Westbrook can't hang on to the easiest rebound of his life and knocks it out of bounds so the Clippers can retain possession. It's safe to say Simmons will probably stick to passing once the basketball gets back inbounds.
He clearly knew what he was doing all along by not shooting. MORE: Could Spurs-Bucks swing Giannis trade?.
