Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are two of Bollywood's most iconic actors, often referred to as the Khans of Bollywood alongside Aamir Khan. They've dominated the Indian film industry for decades, with a massive following and numerous blockbuster hits. However, this particular actress worked with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan but lost her cool on them and scolded them on set and even asked them to rehearse their scenes properly before performing in front of the camera.
The actress we are talking about is Mamta Kulkarni, who once gave a tough competition to stars like Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, and Kajol. She once ruled the silver screen in the 90s. Mamta Kulkarni was born on 20 April 1972 in Mumbai.
She is known for her work in Hindi cinema and is one of the most successful actresses of her time. Her performance in Aashiq Awara (1993) won her the 1994 Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. She quit the film industry after her appearance in the film Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum.
In filming of Karan Arjun, Mamta worked with SRK and Salman, during the shooting of the film, she burst out at them for interfering with her shot. Shah Rukh Khan shared the incident when he appeared for Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 7, while promoting his film Dilwale with Kajol. Shah Rukh Khan revealed that Mamta said she had given a flawless shot during the filming of the song sequence Bhangra Pa Le.
But because of them, the entire scene had to be reshot. Tum log rehearsal kar ke aaya karo, mera shot bilkul perfect tha, tum logo ne bahut kharab dance kiya, he stated, referring to Unhone (Mamta). Salman and Kajol both started laughing when they heard this.
Mamta Kulkarni’s acting journey began with Tirang in 1992, alongside Raj Kumar and Nana Patekar. Her major breakthrough came in 1993 with Karan Arjun, where she was paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. When she was at the peak of her career, her biggest setback came when her name was linked to a gangster in 2013.
In 2016, Thane Police identified her as a suspect in a Rs 2000 crore international drug racket. However, in 2024, the Bombay High Court dismissed the charges against her due to a lack of evidence. Now, Mamta left Bollywood, turned to a yogini.
