Interestingly, Janhvi has another ‘sister’ who made her debut alongside Sridevi but never returned to Bollywood after that one film.
This may sound surprising, but this ‘sister’ is Janhvi’s on-screen sibling who starred with Sridevi. The actress in question is Pakistani star Sajal Ali. Sajal entered Bollywood when she was cast in Ravi Udyawar’s crime thriller Mom.
Alongside Sajal, the movie featured another Pakistani actor, Adnan Siddiqui. Sajal is currently one of the highest-paid actresses in Pakistan. Sajal made her Bollywood debut in 2017 with Mom, which became a global success, grossing over ₹175 crore worldwide and receiving positive reviews.
Sridevi’s performance in the film was particularly acclaimed. In Mom, Sajal played Sridevi’s on-screen daughter, and Sridevi, 53 at the time, expressed a deep affection for the then 23-year-old Sajal. During the film’s promotion, Sridevi said, “Sajal is like my third child.
Now, I feel I have one more daughter.” Sajal later revealed that she shares a very close bond with Janhvi Kapoor. In 2018, just weeks after Sridevi’s passing, Sajal said in an interview with Hindustan Times, “I am in a state of shock right now.
It feels like losing my mother again.” The actress shared that she missed meeting Sridevi at the Masala Awards in Dubai, which she could not attend. Later, Sridevi texted her, saying, “I missed you, beta,” Sajal fondly recalled.
“That’s the last message I have from her. After that, we spoke a few more times in the last two months. Sadly, when she called me a few days before her passing, I missed the call because I was shooting, thinking I’d call her back, but I guess I took too long.
