There’s a lot to look forward to this weekend, from the opening of a chocolate shop to a rugby-watching block party in the city. You can also mark your calendars for next weekend’s major events, giving you time to plan ahead. If you’re looking to fill the void, stave off existential dread or just have a good time this weekend, then have a look at our list of Auckland’s best goings-on.

There’s art aplenty, an animal expo, some talented young musicians, theatre, chocolate, a rugby party and a few things for next week that you’re going to want to organise now. 1) Art in the Park - Kingsland The All Blacks may be playing this weekend but not at Eden Park they’re not; instead, our national stadium is going through its now annual transformation from sports stadium to art gallery. Art in the Park - which after only three years has become Australasia’s largest curated, artist-led show - is hosting more than 150 artists and their work, which includes paintings, photography, wall art, digital art experiences and more than 90 large-scale sculptures, along with guided stadium tours, artist talks and a creative space for adults and kids.

It’s a great way to discover new local artists, maybe find a new piece of art for your home and just soak up the vibrancy and creativity of Aotearoa’s local art scene, while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the All Blacks’ home. When: September 19-22..
