Republican Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs said Friday that members of the Democratic Party are exploiting migrant workers, all under the pretense of economic necessity. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Biggs disputed claims that deporting migrants would harm the American economy, framing it instead as a misleading narrative beneficial to big businesses.
Biggs said that this narrative from the party is essentially exploiting migrants to maintain low consumer costs. “We’ve been actually hearing this for years, that if you deport people, they’re not going to pick your vegetables. Your hamburger at McDonald’s is going to be higher.
You’re going to have to clean your hotel room,” Biggs said. “By the way, all these people are exploiting these folks in a way, ostensibly, to keep prices down. But the reality is, they’re making big profits doing it.
” Biggs questioned the sincerity of sanctuary cities as well as states that advocate for migrant protections while simultaneously requesting federal aid. “If this is such a great idea, then why are they going, are these sanctuary cities and states going to the federal government saying ‘Oh, by the way, we’re going to need $5 billion to bail us out, and we’re going to deal with everything from education, health care, food costs, cell phones, all this stuff,'” Biggs asked. “America spoke on November 5 loud and clear, and they said the number one issue is we got to close the border,” Biggs said. President-elect Donald Trump committed to a mass deportation regardless of cost. In a phone conversation with NBC News in November, Trump said that his deportation initiative has “no price tag” because he plans to launch a major immigration enforcement effort on his first day in office, targeting the removal of individuals in the U.
S. illegally, especially those with criminal backgrounds. Trump tapped Tom Homan, his former acting director of the U.
S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as the new “border czar” in his upcoming administration. In a post on Truth Social, Trump tasked Homan with managing deportations and enhancing security at both land and sea borders.
