Diogo Dalot took positives from Manchester United’s performance despite suffering their 13th defeat in the Premier League this season. On Tuesday night, Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The only goal came from former United winger Anthony Elanga in the fifth minute as he ran half of the pitch, seeing off attempts from Alejandro Garnacho and Patrick Dorgu, before slotting the ball past Andre Onana.
Although United were unable to find the back of the net in response, Ruben Amorim’s side did everything else to control the game. The Reds registered 23 shots and had 68% of the possession, but Forest were more clinical in front of goal, managing just two attempts on target throughout the match.United’s latest defeat makes it difficult for Amorim’s side to climb out of the bottom half of the Premier League table, whereas it strengthens Forest’s position in the race for a top four finish.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom as United right-back Diogo Dalot explained in his post-match interview.“I think we did enough to win the game,” Dalot told MUTV. “We had very good moments, created a lot of chances, and I think enough chances to win this game.
“It’s the price sometimes you pay in this type of level, in these types of competitions. Sometimes a little distraction, lack of focus, can be really decisive, and today it was.”Despite the scoreline, United have played decently.

“Overall, I think we are improving,” he added. “We are playing better, controlling more games in possession and without possession, so [that is] something positive that we can take for the coming games.“But in the end, we need to start being more consistent in terms of results and winning more games.

Dalot explains how determined he is to be competitive with United in the future, saying: “If we want to be competitive in the future, we have to start behaving like this and we have to perform like this.“But these little bits will have to come first if you want to compete for the Premier League and the biggest titles, we have to start creating these habits and they try to be consistent on that, and then I think the results will come by themselves.“We still have to suffer a little bit, but in terms of getting out of this situation and trying to improve, I think we are on the right track.
