Jake Shane is embarking on an exciting new career move as he's announced that he will be joining the cast of the HBO drama series Hacks. This week the 25-year-old comedian , famously known for his pop culture podcast Therapuss , is now taking the small screen as he has landed a role of 'Social Media Girlie' in Hack's upcoming fourth season. Fans can catch Jake in action during the season premiere of the show set to launch on the streaming service April 10 at 9 p.

m. Hacks follows the story of a Las Vegas-based stand-up comedian named Deborah Vance who is on a mission to reinvent herself in order to keep her residency at the Palmetto Casino. In an effort to keep her content fresh and relatable, Deborah seeks help from a young writer named Ava Daniels who is also struggling after getting "cancelled" due to an insensitive social media post.

The pair then go on to spark an unlikely friendship where they inspire each other both professionally and in their personal lives. The popular series features a talented cast and crew including actors Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, Kaitlin Olson, Megan Stalter, Poppy Liu, Jane Adams, and more. Since Hacks launch in May 2021, the drama series has been met with rave reviews from fans and has even gone on to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

And now, they have a fresh new cast joining their cast. This update is a dream come true for Jake as he has always had aspirations of making it big in Hollywood. Speaking to US Weekly , the podcaster shared: "I really want to get into acting.

I just did my first acting thing. It’s not announced yet. It’s small, but it’s really, really, really cool, and I’m really excited about that.

So hopefully that opens more doors. I’m really, really hoping to get into that.” But this isn't Jake's first time in front of a camera.

In addition to hosting his weekly podcast Therapuss - which has generated over 220K subscribers on YouTube - he has also made small appearances in a number of films. Jake has previously been featured in Russian Flowers (2012), Unflushable (2012), Kate and Travis Forever (2013), and Sleep Elephants Sleep (2012). He also appeared in a 2025 Super Bowl commercial for Poppi alongside famous TikToker Alix Earle.
