Only Foods and Sauces, in Rembrandt Way, Newton Aycliffe, is run by Becky Shaw, 46, and her partner, Andrew Poole, and helped by their five sons, Matthew, Arran, Haydn, and even 13-year-old twins Danny and Corey. The couple have had the business for 10 years, and opened the current unit in Rembrandt Way after quickly outgrowing their first premises. Becky said: "I have always worked in catering, and before opening our own business I worked in fish and chips shops in the town.

"I got made redundant, and thought it was time to give it a go and open our own place. "It is the hardest thing we have ever done, but it has all been worth it. Before we opened we asked the public locally what sort of food they thought we should offer.

"We do lots of traditional meals like mince and dumplings and corned beef hash – there is something for everyone. "One of our most popular items on the menu is the spam stack – it has spam, two rashers of bacon, hash browns, melted cheese, and a fried egg on top. "We get lots of regulars too who like to come in for a chat.

" In 2023, the family business opened a vintage toy shop featuring items from franchises such as Star Wars, The Walking Dead, ThunderCats, Dukes of Hazzard, Goonies, He-Man, Ghostbusters, and wrestling memorabilia and merchandise. It also features cap guns, Coca Cola trinkets, Cabbage Patch Kids, Playmobil, Indiana Jones merchandise, Keypers, board games, and lots of Only Fools and Horses memorabilia.
