Anjelica Huston bravely opened up about her cancer battle , revealing her diagnosis came as a "big shock" while expressing how "proud" she's coped with the ordeal. Now 73 years old, the renowned actress , celebrated for iconic roles in The Witches (1990) and The Addams Family (1991), received her diagnosis back in 2019. This news came just as she was riding the high from her performance in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, which premiered in May of that year.

Huston, an Oscar winner , opened up to People magazine about her "bout with cancer" not specifying the type but confirming she's currently "in the clear," although she continues to undergo regular screenings. Speaking about those challenging times, Anjelica said it was a "very serious moment" but she managed to "survive it" and feels "proud" for doing so. She recounted feeling "very lucky" and praised her doctors for their "wonderful" care during this journey.

Discussing the impact on her lifestyle, Anjelica Huston shared how the diagnosis shifted her perspective: "It came as a big shock, but it made me conscious of what I shouldn't do, of places I shouldn't go. One of those places was taking life too seriously," reports the Mirror . The acclaimed star, who clinched an Academy Award for her role in 'Prizzi's Honor' (1985), now embraces laughter when she can and aims to avoid making too much fuss over things.

In a candid interview, Anjelica revealed that she was declared 'cancer free' two years post-diagnosis. She expressed her gratitude to the media outlet, saying: "I'm at the four-year mark, and that means so much to me." Anjelica also opened up about why she chose to go public with her cancer battle after six years of privacy.

She believes that while people often stay silent for "obvious reasons," there's significant value in speaking out and "celebrating" the victory of having "come through". While discussing her role in Agatha Christie's 'Towards Zero,' which recently aired in the UK and is set to premiere in the US next week, Anjelica described life as both "tenuous" and "wonderful." The actor, who portrayed Lady Tressilian in the three-part series, also touched on the topic of retirement.
