The trail is short and easy, making it a perfect stroll for all ages. The camellias range in colour from deep reds to soft whites and vibrant pinks.
There are also floral arrangements and sculptures scattered around the park celebrating these beautiful flowers. For an even bigger display, head to Chiswick’s conservatory, home to one of the oldest collections of camellias under glass in Europe. These plants were once a symbol of status in 18th-century England, having been imported from China, where they have been cultivated for thousands of years.
The conservatory’s collection was nearly lost when the building fell into disrepair in the late 20th century. Thanks to local members of the International Camellia Society, 33 different varieties were saved and continue to thrive today. After exploring, you can grab a refreshment at the on-site café, which has outdoor seating for a relaxed break.
There’s also a playground nearby, making it a great spot for families. Be prepared for some queues - this park is a popular destination for a reason. Whether you’re after a peaceful retreat or a lively picnic, Chiswick House and Gardens is the perfect springtime escape.
